NPL 2024 Rules
- Each Team will have to register 8 Players. 6 players will be in the playing team.
- In League / knock out phases, each Team will get 3 overs. One player can bowl only one over. Six legal balls will constitute one over.
- No Ball Rules -
A ball will be termed as no ball under following conditions:
a. First bounce of the ball is pitched before the no ball line when viewed from bowler’s end.
b. The ball reaches the batter above the knee height.
c. If before first bounce, the height of ball exceeds a certain height (as per judgement of leg umpire)
d. While bowling, the bowler should have stand with legs firmly fixed. No movement of legs is allowed while delivering the ball. Any deviation would result in no ball.
e. The bowler cannot bend his/her stature while delivering the ball.
f. The bowler should not overstep the bowling crease.
g. The rules ‘a’ ‘b’ and ‘c’ are owned by leg umpire whereas d, e and ‘f’ are owned by main umpire.
- Bowler has to confirm with umpire the side before starting to bowl, or any changes in side during the over for bowling should be confirmed with umpires. Otherwise Umpire may call it a No Ball.
- Reasonable hand movement in a vertical plane is allowed subject to the discretion of the main umpire.
- Bowler can take his /her hands backwards as well in that vertical plane. But no rule as stated in section 3.c, 3.d and 3.e should be violated else the ball will be termed as no ball.
- Scoring Rules
- Straight wall net direct shot 6 runs over the boundary line
- Straight wall net ground shot 4 runs over the boundary line
- Side wall net full-toss or ground shot 2 runs D after the Bowler crease stump line
- Side wall net full- toss or ground shot 1 run D before the Bowler crease stump line and Batsman crease stump line
- No runs behind the wicket at Keeper end
- Only straight 6 run shot allowed over the boundary (without touching upper wall net or side wall nets or both)
- If the ball touches player or any body part or reflects and crosses over the boundary without grounding the ball it will be a 6 run shot
- If ball touches 1st upper wall net & then hits straight wall net it will be a 4 runs shot
- if ball touches 1st side wall net & then hits straight wall net it will be a 2 runs shot
- If the ball hits side wall nets (Before the bowler cress stumps line) run 1D no running between the wickets
- If the ball hits side wall nets (After the Blower cress stumps line) run 2D no running between the wickets
- No run behind the wickets if ball goes after touching the batsman’s bat
- If the batsman steps out of the crease no runs on that shot
- (Step out Rule - It says batsman’s one leg should be grounded in crease)
- If the ball 1st touches or hits the side wall or upper nets and after that field player catches the ball it’s a not out
- If the batsman steps out of the crease no runs on that shot
- (Step out Rule - It says batsman’s one leg should be grounded in crease)
- If the bowler bowls full toss bowl above the knee level it will be termed as No ball with additional 1 run and extra ball. (Only Runout is allowed for this delivery)
- If the ball touches centre line or pitches before the centre line that ball would be termed as No ball with additional 1 Run and extra ball (Only Runout is allowed for this delivery)
- If the ball 1st touches or hits the side wall or upper nets and after that field player catches the ball it’s a not out
- Team gets 4 points for a win. Rule of compulsory chase applies in league stage
- This year we have xx teams. They are divided into x teams in Junior league, x teams in Senior league and xx Teams in Super Senior League

- Super Senior league and Senior league teams are divided into x groups of x teams each. Winner
- of the groups will enter the semifinal. Winner of group A of senior league will play winner of group D in semi final. Winner of group B of senior league will play winner of group C in second semifinal.
- Junior league teams are divided into x groups of x teams each. Top x teams of the groups will enter the semifinal. Winner of group A of league will play second position team of group B in semifinal. Winner of group B of league will play second position team of group A in second semifinal.
- In case of a tie in KO stage, a Super over will be played. If there is another tie in Super Over, another Super over will be played. This will continue till we get the result. For a super over, teams need to submit the list of 3 batters and 1 bowler. The innings get over after 2 wickets fall or 6 legal deliveries whichever happens first.
- The net run rate (NRR)= (Total Runs Scored by Team / Total Number of Balls Faced byTeam) -(Total Runs Scored Against Team /Total Number of Balls Delivered by Team)
- In case a team gets bowled out before its full quota is over then total number of balls (18 in league) will be considered in calculation i.e. for batting team 18 would be Total Number of Balls Faced andfor bowling team 18 would be total number of Balls Delivered.
- No batting for last batter. Innings considered as ended when 5th wicket falls in a match.
- In case there is tie in net run rate (two decimal places), then team with more no. of runs per wicket will be qualified. The runs scored in Super over in league stage will NOT be considered in calculation of NRR.
- No LBW
- If the ball hit by batsman touches body of Main / Leg Umpire, it will be considered as dead ball & no legal delivery. No delivery / run counted.
- Umpire &Exe. Committee (Ujjwal Mhatre, Amol Patil, Rajesh Modgekar, Chinmay Gavankar ,Mahesh Abhyankar, Aditya Patil) decision is the final decision.
- Team not present on the ground at the stipulated time for a match will have to forfeit the match to opponent.
- All Teams and Players are expected to play in fair Spirit of the Game and make this Year’s NPL 2024 a Memorable event
