NPL 2016 Rules

1.       Each team will have 6 players in the team.
a)Teams can nominate 10 player pool instead of 8 BEFORE staring the tournament 2 pm Saturday is cut off.
b)The team can't have more than 2 new players at any point of time in back to back matches .The reason for this rule is the team should not be rotated with say 4 new players who are reserved for next match and the team should not have unfair advantage of fresh and rested players when the opposite team may or may not have even one extra man to rest/rotate
This is fair otherwise batches with more reserve can rotate fully rested players each match and would get unfair performance benefit .Especially in senior league
c)There will be a pool of "chairman resources " . basically a pool of mixed players from all batches (limited to youngest batch and oldest batch in leagues ).In case any team is facing a worst shortage they can REQUEST only one player from "chairman resource " pool .
But there can't be a situation allowed where a batch has only 4 present and want 2 from "chairman resource pool " .In this case the team has to give bye .
So min 4 players have to he there from same batch + 1 from other batch of NES as per rules and ONLY then you can request for one more "chairman pool " man
d)Batches who have more players ready to play can reserve 10 for their team and release extra players to "chairman pool " so everyone can play for fun.

2.       Each team will get 3 overs in league stage and 4 overs in KO stage and one player can bowl only one over. (Six balls constitute one over).
3.       Only 1 Team per Batch.
4.       Each team allowed to play one Out of Batch player; but he needs to be NES player. The teams in senior batch can take 1 external player from batch up to 1989 Batch. Junior league teams can take external player from any batch up to 2007 batch.
5.       A ball will be termed as no ball under following conditions
a.       The first bounce of the ball is pitched before the no ball line when viewed from bowler’s end.
b.      The ball reaches the batsman above the knee height
c.      If the height of ball exceeds shoulder height before bouncing
d.       While bowling, the bowler should have stand with legs firmly fixed. No movement of legs allowed while delivering the ball. Any deviation would result in no ball.
e.      The bowler cannot bend his stature while delivering the ball.
f.      The bowler should not overstep the bowling crease.
The rules ‘a’ and ‘b’ are owned by leg umpire whereas c, d, e and f are owned by main umpire.
6.       Bowlers have to confirm the sides before starting to bowl with umpire or any changes in sides for bowling should be confirmed with umpires (Otherwise Umpire may call No Ball).
7.       A major change from last year.  Hand movement in a vertical plane is allowed. Bowler can take his hands backwards as well in that vertical plane. But no rule as stated in section 5.c, 5.d and 5.e should be violated else the ball will be termed as no ball.
8.       On No ball if a batsman hits a six, he will be termed as out. New batsman will come. 1 run will be given for no ball and ball won’t be counted.
9.       In our Box cricket tournament six run shot is not allowed (i.e. Over the Boundary line shot is considered as out). On the line or touching boundary line considered as Four Run shot.
10.   No overthrow runs
11.   The batsman should have one leg inside the batting crease. Stepping out of the crease is not allowed. Leg umpire will decide this. Any runs scored after stepping out won’t be counted in score. It would be considered as dead ball and no run out.
12.   The shots (with exception to six) crossing the boundary line in V zone will fetch 4 runs whereas the ones crossing the fence outside V zone will fetch 1 run.
13.   Team gets 4 points for a win. A tie is declared when both teams score equal runs. In case of a tie in league stage, super over will be played and winner will be awarded 4 points.
14.   In case of a tie in KO stage, a Super over will be played. If there is another tie in Super Over, another Super over will be played. This will continue till we get result. For a super over, teams need to submit the list of 3 batsmen and 1 bowler. The innings get over after 2 wickets fall.
15.   The net run rate (NRR) =
(Total Runs Scored by Team / Total Number of Balls Faced) - (Total Runs Scored Against Team / Total Number of Balls Delivered)
In case a team gets bowled out before its full quota is over then total number of balls (18 in league and 24 in KO) will be considered in calculation i.e. for batting team 18/24 would be Total Number of Balls Faced and for bowling team 18/24 would be Total Number of Balls Delivered.
16.   No batting for last batsman.  Innings considered as ended when 5th wicket falls in a match
17. In case there is tie in net run rate (two decimal places), then team with more no. of runs per wicket will be qualified.  The runs scored in Super over in league stage will NOT be considered in calculation of NRR.
18.   No LBW
19.   Umpire & Exe. Committee decision is the final decision.
20.   Team not present on the ground at the stipulated time for a match will have to forfeit the match to opponent.
21.   We need to take care of School Windows.
