Dhoni’s Captaincy

Losing two T20 matches to South Africa is not an alarming sign. South Africa is a thoroughly professional side which always performs well in any bi-lateral series or in league phase of any major international event. The main objective of this short post is to highlight some of the debatable decisions which our T20 / Limited Overs Captain Dhoni takes based on his personal preferences.

1>     Dropping Ajinkya Rahane on frequent basis. – Ajinkya Rahane has proved himself as capable T20 player by playing some memorable knocks from RR. But Mr. Dhoni has some personal opinions about Rahane which is resulting in not selecting Ajinkya.

2>     Not bothering to select Amit Mishra – Amit Mishra performed really well in Tandem with Ashwin in recently concluded SL series. But Dhoni has no liking for this hardworking guy and will continue to ignore him despite his presence in 15 member squad.

3>     Dhoni’s batting position – Let’s face it. This man has lost the most of hitting capabilities but still insists on playing on top of the batting order and running his partners out just to keep himself on strike. Running out Rayadu for practically impossible run was such as example in first T20.

The examples can continue. I will stick to my promise of keeping this post short. Hopefully our selection committee is closing monitoring Dhoni’s captaincy performance and we should be entering into a single captain era soon.
