Series of Meaningless Cricket Matches

Of late Indian cricket team and its players have been involved in series of meaningless matches. The real meaningful test cricket was played in England during which Indian team was beaten comprehensively by English team. Soon our players were involved in Champions League Matches. Despite the attendance it received, I doubt if spectators were really interested in quality of game played or result for that matter. 
Right now Indian cricket team is in middle of home series against West Indies. Only Indian cricket Board knows how this series (which is played on flat tracks and much smaller grounds) will help cause of Indian cricket team during World cup to be played in Australia in early 2015. It is also appalling to see number of columns written by former cricketers analyzing such meaningless series. 
In short we are killing Cricket as a game by its overdose. I am still positive to see the real cricket preserved in countries like New Zealand, South Africa, England and Australia.

A lost comb, Baking Bowl and A Proud City!

Memories of India's Cricket World Cup debacle in1992 and 1999 editions continue to haunt me. India's campaigns in those two editions were like a nightmare.  2007 World Cup was more horrible but at least it got over even before we realised that something horrible was happening.  6 week long World Cups can be a nightmare for a team in alien conditions and specially when things start falling apart for them. You need to have either a true leader who can pull you out of a rut or a closely knit team who would stand for each other. India lacked both these factors in those editions.  Yesterday watching English team fall apart into last 15 over of the South African batting inning and for whatever period they batted was really painful. 2024 - Europe Trip - Part 3 - London

After landing at London's Heathrow airport, old memories were awakened. I landed at Heathrow Airport for the first time in 2000 on a foreign tour. As it was evening at that time, the airport was crowded. But now, as it was night time, we did not feel that we were at one of the busiest airports in the world. Considering the interest of the environment, this airport is closed for five-six hours at night like some other airports in Europe. When it comes to our country, our airports are the busiest at night. Of course, this may be a convenient time to go from Europe to America.     As for immigration, there was not a huge queue. It was an overall case of Atul ahead and Veena World passengers behind. There were a total of 43 people on our trip. 13 of them were to join us at a hotel in London.
