Industry Academia Collaboration

The industry and the academic Institute interaction has been always a topic importance of which has been acknowledged from both sides. The practical constraints tend to restrict concrete steps taken to make improvement in this area. Most of the time industry keeps on providing the feedback that the graduates they get from the academic Institute are far from industry ready state. Yesterday I had opportunity to visit one of the leading academic Institute in Mumbai which recently become autonomous. They have seized this opportunity and are in process of revising their syllabus. In large country such as India, there are known limitations of the law enforcing authorities, primarily due to disproportionate size of the population they need to supervise. It is practically impossible for them to control each and every behavior of individuals / groups which brings nuisance to the society. As a result it is expected that the citizens show common sense in their social lives so as to maintain the quality of the same intact. Unfortunately the civic sense is on declining path for many decades in India. Bullying seems to be the most effective way of getting the things done in a way any individual wants to do. And if you are able to supplement it with religious or regional believes, then it becomes practically impossible to stop that practice however detrimental it is to the quality of the social life.
