Another Test and Another Defeat!!!
In my college days, I was very sensitive to Indian cricket team performance. After looking at my disappointment after yet another Indian loss, one of my friends commented that only those people who don't have their own achievements in their lives rely on Indian cricket team's so rare heroics. I took that comment very seriously and over period of time made conscious effort to reduce my dependency on Indian team's performance to retain my happy state of my mind. I have tried to reduce time spent in front of television set when India is not performing well and try to indulge in any activity which would give me any sense of achievement. Still that small amount of disappointment always stays.
The fact remains that Indian Test cricket team is in pathetic state when it comes down to performing in overseas conditions. We don't have bowlers which have discipline and consistency to take those 20 wickets. Batsmen have lost that concentration over years due to excessive limited overs and T20 cricket played. Indian cricket team has become laughing stock of international cricket world. Money power which Indian cricket brings has very little effect on the quality of Indian cricket players. Perennial problem of producing individual heroes but not great teams with Indian sports world continues.
Another funny aspect is the unnecessary aggression which Indian cricketers demonstrate on cricket field. Aggression makes sense when accompanied by a decent performance. Sleep Walker Rohit Sharma poses question to Johnson "How many wickets have you taken" when he arrives to bat at around 250/6. This results in such a stupendous response from Johnson that he scores number of runs in an innings which Rohit is not likely to cross as aggregate score in this series. Then with ball Johnson make mockery of Indian batting line up. All we can do is to blame the quality of practice pitches.
Most painful part is with some decent batsmen in team, the so dismal statistics this current Indian team has produced in last few years. The reasons - The lack of spine and Spoiled Brat state our cricketers have gained due to excessive money!!! With still 2 more tests to follow, I need to improve on my ability of suppressing my anguish at Indian Test team's performance.
